Sedation endodontics
Many people avoid endodontic treatment out of fear and anxiety. Dental anxiety is common, and we understand and respect those fears and concerns. For our patients who have a higher level of dental anxiety, we want to relieve your fears and concerns and provide you with a relaxed and comfortable experience. That is why we offer sedation endodontics for stress-free endodontic treatment.
- Sedation endodontics settles your nerves and relaxes you during the appointment.
- Sedation is effective and extremely safe.
- Our dentists are specially trained to offer you sedation and closely monitor your progress during your dental treatment.
We offer two types of sedation endodontics at our offices: oral sedation medication or nitrous oxide.
Oral sedation Medication
With oral sedation medication, the patient takes a pill prior to treatment. Oral sedation leaves you able to speak and breathe on your own. You will be awake, but you will feel sleepy. You will be comfortable and feel virtually no pain while we provide you with the treatment you need. You will enjoy a heightened state of relaxation. You will need to have someone with you at your visit to take you to and from the office as you may be drowsy, and you should not drive while taking oral sedation.
Nitrous oxide
Nitrous oxide / oxygen is a safe, effective sedative agent used in dentistry to calm a patient’s fear of the dental visit. Under nitrous oxide you remain conscious and able to breathe on your own, with a sense of total well-being (euphoria). Patients generally recover quickly, and can leave the office by themselves, without an escort. Nitrous oxide / oxygen is perhaps the safest sedative in dentistry. It is well tolerated. It has a rapid onset, is reversible, can be adjusted in various concentrations and is non-allergenic. The patient remains fully conscious and keeps all natural reflexes when breathing nitrous oxide / oxygen.
Please contact us prior to your visit if you have any questions or are interested in having sedation during your procedure. A consultation is required prior to your visit for sedation dentistry.
